Environmental and Ethical Policy

Why does a company like Better Start Here need an Environmental and Ethical Policy?

Well, as I sit here writing this, I'm surrounded by computers, printers, phones and great teetering stacks of paper. In winter there's heating and lighting too, and that's just the start of it. Each time any one of us chooses a supplier we are accepting not only their products but their policies too; that's not just the tangible products like pens and paper or cars and computers but energy companies, telephony suppliers and banks as well - yes, even the companies that provide your business services can and should make a difference.

All of us affect the world by the choices we make and the way we behave. We can work towards a better future or turn our backs and pretend that it's not our problem.

Better Start Here is committed to being as eco-friendly and ethically sound as possible. That means looking carefully at our own business and those of our suppliers.

We use: recycled paper, electricity from sustainable sources and ethical banking and telephony services. We also off-set our CO2 emmissions
and offer special rates to charities, not-for-profits and ethical and environmental businesses

We encourage you to do the same. See our Links Page for some ideas on where to start.

These are big words for a small start, but we are trying.

Putting our money where our mouth is...

As a part of our company policy not only do we regularly audit our own activities, but we also aim to provide at least one hour's work a week free to charity.
